We have had some pretty good storms all around us recently. I think it has stormed every day the past week and there have been a couple days of tornados. The closest to us was about 5 miles away. Nothing major here except some hail…but it was pretty big. Also, Saturday Pocco, Christie, and Peter came over to play with Cassie. Check out her page for more pics.

We made our way to Huber Farm again for the first weekend of strawberry pickin’! Apparently we got there too early…not quite enough ready to be picked yet. We’ll go back this weekend for more! On the way back, we stopped by the school to check out the 17 year cicadas. Wow! They were everywhere and together made the most strange noise. Trees were covered with them. They stay underground in their juvenile stage for 17 years and then come out to molt and fly to mate. Amazing.

It has been an exciting couple days in the Creason back yard! I came home yesterday afternoon that Cassie had found a four foot snake that looked pretty vicious (I wasn’t home and the experience was quite unnerving for Court). Well, today, I came home, and Cassie found her friend again. I agree, it didn’t look too friendly, however, I’m certain it’s a nonvenemous snake…albeit pretty sizeable (5′4″). In order to hopefully help give us some peace of mind about being in our back yard, I dispatched the snake in the quickest way possible (although now nearly 3 hours later it’s still squirming and Cassie is still barking at it…from the kitchen). I dropped the axe on it once and it was all over. If it were small like last year’s snake, I probably wouldn’t have killed it, just relocated it. But this one was too big, too close to the house, too aggressive, and crossed our paths twice within 24 hours. It had to go.

Well, I have officially completed this semester. I now have this week to get ready for a two week Jesus-term. On a lighter note, maquito season has officially begun. It began with the first bite of the season last night. I also have finally gotten our pictures from the Bahamas trip posted! Enjoy!!!

Adam and Mandy were in town for Adam’s graduation so we (YM1BF) had a cookout at the Jessee’s home. It was BYOM (bring your own meat) and turned out really well. Ben kept Cassie occupied when she wasn’t restling with Kongo. It was a great night! Here is a picture courtesy of John.
